In athletics, a player who can run, hit, and field offers the complete package to a team. Totten welcomes three new employees who offer the same versatility but in different ways: one can cut & pack, the other can drive, and the last can sell.
Reggie Miller joins the company’s Arizona branch as a warehousemen who will be enjoying his very first summer in Arizona. Reggie is an import from Ohio where he grew up in Columbus but became an avid Wolverine fan. You don’t have to ask him who his favorite X-man is! Reggie has two sons in college and high school and is no stranger to family life. He grew up as one of 13 children! Reggie worked fur Centas – the Uniform People before coming to Totten. He has learned how to run all the forklifts and saws at the plant and will certainly fill the gap left by Steven Elmore who has left the company and moved back to the Midwest.
Phong Phounsavath delivers steel for the company as it’s new San Diego County truck driver. Phong replaced David Dolan who passed away last year (see Totten Times 2008 fall article) and has become a great asset for the company. As you can tell by his name, Phong (pronounced Fong) is not a California native. He is an immigrant from Laos and still has three siblings in that country. Phong brings a proven record behind the wheel, driving for the San Diego Union Tribune, Land Air Express, as well as Swift & Knight Transportation.
Kelly Totten has accepted a position in outside sales for the Pacific Northwest. Kelly lives in Seattle and is no stranger to the Northwest. He graduated with academic and leadership honors from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma where he started 4 years as an offensive guard for the Lutes (football) and led the team as a captain his senior year. Kelly also worked part time all four years for the alumni office where he sharpened his Public Relations and computer skills. His territory will be the States of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, along with the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. Kelly has already made an impact landing many new customers and tripling the territory’s sales in the 1st quarter. Kelly is the youngest son of Tracy Totten.
