Totten Tubes Inc

Totten Tubes stocks A106 seamless pipe, also called A106 seamless pressure pipe, in various sizes and profiles. This pipe is commonly specified for applications where piping is used to transport fluids and gasses at high temperatures and/or pressures. A106 seamless pressure pipe a key component in power plants, oil and gas refineries, petrochemical processing plants, boilers, and more.

A = cross-sectional area of the tension test specimen, in., based on specified outside diameter or nominal specimen width and specified wall thickness rounded to the nearset 0.01 in.2 (if the area thus caluclated is greater than the value 0.75 in.2 shall be used), and
U = specified tensile strength, psi.

A106 Steel Pipe Testing Requirements

  • Hydrostatic Testing: In hydrostatic testing, A106 seamless steel pipe samples are subjected to test pressure at 60% of specified minimum yield strength, at ambient temperatures; pressure test is maintained for at least five seconds. Maximum test pressures shall not exceed 2,500 psi for NPS3 steel pipe, or 2,800 psi for all larger sizes.
  • Mechanical Testing: A106 seamless pipe NPS 8 and larger are weighed in lots; larger sizes are weighed by length. Flattening tests are required on A106 pipe NPS 2-1/2 and larger; cold bend testing is required for A106 pipe NPS 2 and smaller.
